Dodgers add four more to front-office ranks.

Confirming four new front-office hires that had been rumored for weeks, the Dodgers appointed David Finley as Vice President, Amateur & International Scouting, Galen Carr as Director of Player Personnel, Jeff Pickler as Special Assistant, Pro Scouting & Player Development, and Jack Cressend as Pitching Crosschecker on Tuesday.

The Dodgers recently lost VP of amateur scouting Logan White to the San Diego Padres, as well as two crosscheckers, Roy Clark (to the Atlanta Braves) and Paul Fryer (to the Boston Red Sox).

Here’s a bit more on each of the new hires:

Finley comes to the Dodgers from Boston, where he had been the Red Sox’s director of player personnel since 2011. He joined the Red Sox organization prior to the 2002 season. Previously, he was an area scout for the Padres (1991-94) and Marlins (1995-2001). Finley was named Red Sox Scout of the Year in 2007 and received the same honor with the Marlins in 2000.

Finley played at the University of Arizona in 1985 before transferring to UC Riverside, where he played alongside retired MLB pitcher Troy Percival. He was drafted by Oakland in the 1987 amateur draft and played two seasons in the A’s system.

Carr had served various roles in the Red Sox organization since 2000. He had been a special assignment scout since 2011, a major league scout from 2007-11 and a pro scout in 2006. Carr was the club’s advance scouting coordinator from 2003-05 and was an advance scouting administrator from 2001-02. A pitcher at Colby College, he joined the Red Sox organization prior to the 2000 season as an intern.

Pickler was a professional scout with the Padres (2010, 2012-14). He briefly left San Diego in 2011 to be a roving infield coordinator for the Angels and also gained coaching experience as an assistant at the University of Arizona in 2009. Pickler broke into the front office ranks as an advance scout and consultant to the Major League staff with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2006-08, following a playing career that included eight minor league seasons with the Milwaukee (1998-2001), Texas (2002-04) and Colorado (2005) organizations.

A native of Garden Grove, Pickler played eight seasons of professional baseball in the Rangers, Brewers and Rockies systems. He retired in 2005 with a career .299 batting average after spending parts of six seasons at the Triple-A level.

Cressend assumes the newly-created role of pitching crosschecker as he joins the Dodgers from Tampa Bay, where he served as an associate scout from 2006-08 and most recently as an amateur scout/pitching consultant since 2012. Between stints with the Rays, he was an assistant coach for Tulane University (2009-10) and the University of Houston (2011).

Cressend, a right-handed reliever, pitched in five MLB seasons with the Twins (2000-02) and Indians (2003-04), going 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA in 122 career appearances. He was signed by the Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 1996 after playing college ball at Tulane.
