Security measures at Dodger Stadium have been beefed up to comply with new MLB guidelines. The most conspicuous change: Permanent metal detectors, which were installed at all stadium entrances over the off-season. They’ll make their debut when the Dodgers host the Angels on Saturday.

There’s more to it than that. The Dodgers issued the following press release Tuesday:

AP: Dodgers’ payroll is $272.8 million, still highest in the majors.

The Dodgers’ Opening Day payroll projects to approximately $272.8 million, easily the highest in baseball, according to the Associated Press.

The New York Yankees rank second at $219.2 million.

Dodgers spring training 2015: Andre Ethier survives HBP scare in loss to White Sox.

The least important thing the Dodgers did today was lose a baseball game.

They did play, and they did lose, so we’re obligated to report that the score was 2-1 in favor of the Chicago White Sox. Chris Heisey hit a home run. Heisey is batting .111 in Cactus League play; he talked about his slow start here.

Today’s highlight came in the second inning when Andre Ethier was hit by a pitch on his right elbow. Check it out:

The Dodgers get to play the Chicago White Sox a lot in March because they share the same training facility. Then, the teams never play each other again the rest of the year. It’s a strange rite of spring.

So, try to enjoy this last White Sox-Dodgers tilt. Joe Wieland starts for the Dodgers; it could be an important one as the Dodgers determine who will replace Hyun-Jin Ryu when his turn comes up in the rotation in April.

Here are the lineups for both teams:
