Dodgers spring training 2015: Andre Ethier survives HBP scare in loss to White Sox.

The least important thing the Dodgers did today was lose a baseball game.

They did play, and they did lose, so we’re obligated to report that the score was 2-1 in favor of the Chicago White Sox. Chris Heisey hit a home run. In fact, Heisey has a hit in three of his last four games — homer, double, single. That would seem more impressive if his streak was not preceded by an 0-for-14 stretch. Heisey is batting .111 in Cactus League play; he talked about his slow start here.

Today’s highlight came in the second inning when Andre Ethier was hit by a pitch on his right elbow. Check it out:

More accurately, the highlight might have come afterward when an X-ray came back negative. There was also an impressive throw to third base by Yasiel Puig in the fourth inning. Puig led the National League last season with 15 outfield assists and clearly hasn’t lost his touch:

The box score is here.

The Dodgers told two relievers they will not be on their Opening Day roster, and that was the more significant development today. More on that later.
