Kenley Jansen to complete rehab assignment tonight; could return Saturday.

I reported yesterday that Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen could be activated from the disabled list as early as Friday. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly now says that Jansen won’t be activated before Saturday:

Jansen is due to complete his rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga tonight at 7 p.m. He’ll start the game and pitch one inning.

Mattingly added that he’s talked to Jansen about not closing as soon as he comes back, and Jansen sounded “comfortable” with that.

“We want to break him in, put him in an inning that’s not like bases loaded, something like not any room for error,” Mattingly said. “He’s going to be the closer. There’s no question about that.”
