DENVER — Left-hander David Huff and right-hander Matt West swapped places on the Dodgers’ major league and Triple-A rosters Monday. Huff is in uniform wearing number 54 and is available out of the bullpen for tonight’s game against the Colorado Rockies. West was optioned to Oklahoma City after he was recalled, but did not pitch, Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Huff is also an option to start the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Rockies. Manager Don Mattingly said that decision depends on what happens in tonight’s game.

“Everything is a possibility,” Mattingly said. “Everything is on the table.”

Except for Zach Lee starting the game, apparently.

“We won’t start somebody that’s never started a major league game before tomorrow,” Mattingly added later.

If it isn’t Huff, expect Joe Wieland to get his second major league start. Wieland is listed as tomorrow’s starter for Triple-A Oklahoma City and would be pitching on regular rest wherever he starts.

Huff, a 30-year-old from Huntington Beach, allowed four runs in four innings in his only start for the Dodgers this season April 14 against the Seattle Mariners. He was designated for assignment after the game, accepted an assignment to Triple-A, then continued to feast on Pacific Coast League hitters. In six games (two starts) this season for Oklahoma City, Huff has allowed only six runs over 23 innings, good for a 2.35 earned-run average.

The Dodgers made room for Huff on the 40-man roster by transferring left fielder Carl Crawford to the 60-day disabled list. Crawford cannot be activated before June 27.

Mattingly said that Crawford still hasn’t been cleared to resume baseball activities in his return from a strained right oblique muscle and wasn’t going to return sooner than June 27 anyhow.

Technically the Dodgers would be able to promote Wieland (or any player on the 40-man roster) tomorrow without making a corresponding move. Teams are allowed to carry 26 players on the day of a doubleheader under most conditions. Typically the 26th player is a pitcher who will start one of the two games.

Zack Greinke starts the second game for the Dodgers.

Left-hander Jorge De La Rosa and right-hander David Hale are starting the twin bill for the Rockies, though the club hasn’t announced which pitcher starts which game.
