Howie Kendrick takes ground balls, expected to be available tonight.

Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick took batting practice and infield practice at second base Sunday afternoon and is expected to be available off the bench tonight for the Dodgers. Kendrick hasn’t played since Wednesday, when he injured his left knee against the Colorado Rockies.

“We’re hoping for him tomorrow,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said of Kendrick. “We’ll see. Last night he was available to pinch hit. I could have doubled him in in an emergency, but I didn’t really want to.”

The Dodgers begin a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.

Kiké Hernandez is getting his fourth straight start at second base in Kendrick’s absence. Hernandez has five singles and one strikeout in 10 plate appearances over the three games.
