Joel Peralta could begin rehab assignment Wednesday or Thursday.

Dodgers pitcher Joel Peralta (neck) said Sunday that he could begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga “Wednesday or Thursday, something like that I believe.” The 39-year-old right-hander threw off a mound Saturday and is expected to do so again Monday.

Rancho Cucamonga returns home from a road trip to Modesto on Thursday to begin a seven-game homestand. That might make Thursday the more likely target date.

Peralta was placed on the disabled list April 26, when he sustained a pinched nerve in his neck that in turn affected his right triceps muscle. Tonight’s game will be the 40th he has missed with the injury.
