Jimmy Rollins says it would be ‘nice’ to see Cole Hamels in a Dodger uniform.

Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins played with Cole Hamels in Philadelphia from 2006-14. Hamels seems to be the subject of trade rumors every year the Phillies slip further in the standings. Currently, Philadelphia has the worst record in baseball.

There are rules about executives “tampering” with players under contract to another team by mentioning them in the same breath as a trade, so you won’t hear Andrew Friedman or Farhan Zaidi speculate about Hamels pitching for the Dodgers anytime soon. Opposing players are not bound to the same rules.

So, when Rollins was asked Monday about having Hamels join him on the Dodgers he said, “that’d be nice.”

“Cole would be close to home,” Rollins said. “We know what type of pitcher he is, especially in big games. We have two big-game pitchers that are already here so that would be three. That’s one heck of a conversation.”
