Carl Crawford won’t join the Dodgers immediately after the All-Star break.

Carl Crawford went 2 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday night. He’s up to 21 plate appearances since his minor league rehab began, but is still several games away from hitting the Dodgers’ prescribed target.

“Probably coming out of Colorado Springs we’ll give him a few days off, then play a few days after the break,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. “Kind of the 35-40 (plate appearance) range. Carl’s been out over two months. That’s basically winter. That’s starting over in our mind. He hadn’t played all winter, then he has a few at-bats, not that many.”

Since the Triple-A All-Star break runs concurrent to the major league All-Star break, Crawford won’t reach 35 plate appearances by the time the Dodgers begin play in Washington, D.C. after the break. However, he can be expected to join the Dodgers later during their road trip to D.C., Atlanta and New York.
