Justin Turner placed on DL with skin infection.

The Dodgers placed Justin Turner on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to a lingering skin infection on his thigh caused by an ingrown hair.

Turner leads the Dodgers with a .323 batting average this season. Alex Guerrero is starting at third base tonight and will get the “lion’s share” of the starts there until Turner returns, manager Don Mattingly said.

“Alberto (Callaspo), we’ll probably use the same we have in the past: Match up and try to find the right guys for him,” Mattingly said.

Turner won’t be able to work out for a few days, Mattingly said, but is expected back once his 15 days are up.
