Clayton Kershaw named National League Pitcher of the Month.

Clayton Kershaw was chosen the National League Pitcher of the Month for July on Monday.

To put that in context, here is the Awards section of Kershaw’s baseball-reference.com page:

So another monthly award trophy is another drop in the bucket for Kershaw, however “suitably engraved” it may be.

In four July starts, Kershaw went 3-0 with a 0.27 ERA (33 innings, 1 earned run). He walked two batters all month — some pitchers will walk more batters in an inning — and struck out 45.

July has historically been Kershaw’s strongest month, so in that regard too the award comes as little surprise. His next start is scheduled for Friday in Pittsburgh.
