Dodgers activate Justin Turner from the disabled list, option Jose Peraza to Triple-A.

Justin Turner has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will be available off the bench for tonight’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers optioned Jose Peraza to Triple-A Oklahoma City after the rookie filled in for two games at second base.

Turner last played July 26, when he was diagnosed with a bacterial infection that he discussed at length Wednesday.

“The main question today was how he felt this morning,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. “Once he felt good this morning, we knew we’d have him in this kind of role.”

Mattingly said that Turner will start tomorrow against the Reds, who will dispatch left-hander John Lamb to make his major league debut.

Here’s more from Mattingly on Turner’s role tonight:

In two games with the Dodgers — his first and second games in the big leagues — Peraza went 1 for 6 with a triple and a walk, and played an errorless second base in place of Howie Kendrick.

Kiké Hernandez, Turner and Alberto Callaspo will see the majority of the playing time at second base, Mattingly said.
