Yasiel Puig’s hamstring strain is ‘mild,’ but outfielder won’t be available today.

OAKLAND — Yasiel Puig‘s right hamstring injury could have been worse.

Puig, who left Tuesday night’s game after running out a ground ball in the eighth inning, isn’t available for the Dodgers’ game today against the Oakland A’s, which begins at 12:30 p.m. PT. He isn’t expected to be out long however, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said:

Since this is the second hamstring injury Puig has suffered this year (he missed 38 games in the first half because of a strained left hamstring), it’s probably something Puig will have to be aware of long term:

Andre Ethier is starting in right field today against A’s right-hander Jesse Chavez.
