Howie Kendrick set to join Dodgers in Anaheim but will remain on 15-day DL.

SAN DIEGO — Howie Kendrick will join the Dodgers in Anaheim on Monday for the first of three games against the Angels, but he won’t be activated from the disabled list just yet. Kendrick hasn’t played since he strained his left hamstring Aug. 9.

“He’s at a point now that he’s close enough to be able to do some work on the field, get work with Stan (Conte, the Dodgers’ medical director) and our trainers here,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said.

Kendrick could get into a game by the end of this week, but Mattingly said “I’m not sure if that’s going to be with us or someone else.” The Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers will play their first Pacific Coast League playoff game Wednesday.

Kendrick attempted to run at full speed Saturday in Arizona.

“I think (running) the curves are still a little bit of an issue,” Mattingly said. “Straight-on, I think he was 100 percent. Felt like he could totally run. Had a little bit when he makes that turn, so that’s the last little bit we’ve got to get to.”
