Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins took batting practice and ground balls at Dodger Stadium Tuesday, though he didn’t throw the ball. Rollins, who’s been battling a tender right index finger the last nine days, said he felt “much better” after taking BP.

Rollins has had that feeling before, however, and is proceeding with caution.

“It wasn’t the day of (batting practice) that was the problem last time, it was the day after,” he said.

Rollins said he “probably won’t” play tomorrow against the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers have an off-day Thursday, followed by a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Friday will mark 12 days since the injury.

Corey Seager, who is batting .432 in 11 games, has gotten the bulk of the playing time at shortstop in Rollins’ absence and is starting again tonight against Colorado Rockies left-hander Chris Rusin.
