Season in review about nothing: Ronald Torreyes, ‘The Sponge.’

This is Part 49 of a series in which every member of the 2015 Dodgers has his season juxtaposed with an episode of the greatest sitcom of all-time. Don’t take it too seriously.

Ronald Torreyes, 2B/3B

Key stats: 2-for-6, double, RBI, BB, SO in 8 PA (8 games)

Seinfeld episode: “The Sponge.” (Season 7, Episode 9)

Key quote: “Who cares about your pants size?”

Ronald Torreyes’ presence on the roster was a footnote to the Dodgers’ 2015 season.

And the Astros’.

And the Blue Jays’.

By virtue of promotions, demotions and a pair of trades, the 23-year-old infielder from Venezuela wore the uniform of five different teams in 2015. Four were minor-league outfits — the Fresno Grizzlies (Houston Astros, Triple-A), the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto, Double-A), the Tulsa Drillers (Dodgers, Double-A), the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Triple-A). In September, the Dodgers called up Torreyes to give him his first crack at major league pitching.

Torreyes had hits in his first and last plate appearances as a Dodger and went 0-for-4 in between. (Hey, there’s a trivia question!)

Until recently Torreyes was property of the Angels, who claimed him off waivers from the Yankees, who acquired him from the Dodgers for minor league infielder Rob Segedin on Jan. 12.

The Angels designated Torreyes for assignment earlier today when they acquired Jefry Marté from the Detroit Tigers. If he switches organizations again, Torreyes will have been employed by six different organizations in eight months — and eight in total since his professional career began.

Did we mention that Torreyes is only 23?

Torreyes is also 5-foot-7 by his own estimate, which flies in the face of the 5-10 listed on baseballreference.com, MLB.com and probably other websites. We’re not sure about the reason behind the discrepancy, but it wouldn’t be the first instance of a little white lie generously boosting someone’s dimensions.

In “The Sponge,” Jerry reveals to a girlfriend that he alters the label on all his jeans, changing the waist size from a 32 to a 31. (“I don’t want to be a 32!” he exclaims.) And, as Jerry cleverly illustrates in the opening monologue, sometimes perception influences reality:
