Hyun-Jin Ryu throws two innings for Rancho Cucamonga in Single-A rehab start.

SAN BERNARDINO — Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu threw two scoreless innings for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga today in his first minor league rehab start this season — or ever, for that matter.

Ryu threw only 22 pitches and allowed one hit, a short opposite-field flare that fell for a single. He struck out two batters, both on sweeping curveballs, and walked none. After his outing was over, Ryu threw another 10 pitches in the bullpen.

Here was his first pitch:

And here is his second inning (sans the first pitch):

Ryu said he was exerting about 60 to 70 percent of his maximum effort, which explains his lower-than-usual 85-mph average fastball velocity.

This was the first competitive game Ryu has thrown since he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in spring training 2014. He experienced a few setbacks in spring training this year, but said his shoulder was not inhibiting his effort Sunday.

More from his postgame comments coming shortly.
