Hyun-Jin Ryu’s next start is to be determined after pitcher suffers rehab setback.

CHICAGO — The only certainty about Hyun-jin Ryu‘s rehabilitation process this year is that nothing is certain.

The left-hander had another minor setback, reporting soreness in his left shoulder a day after his most recent start last Wednesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He hasn’t thrown since and doesn’t have a date for his next rehab start.

Here’s what Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said today about Ryu:

To this point the Dodgers have been willing to bide their time with the pitcher, who missed all of 2014 because of a torn shoulder labrum that required surgery. The team has little choice but to wait on Ryu, though time is becoming more of the essence.

Alex Wood is out for at least a month. Ross Stripling is in Triple-A conserving his innings. Julio Urias was brought up to the majors earlier than anticipated and will make his second major league start today. Mike Bolsinger would appear to have a semi-permanent spot in the rotation.

Ryu is the most stable option of the bunch if healthy, but that’s a hypothetical bridge Ryu’s shoulder is still unable to cross.
