Adrian Gonzalez will be held out of the starting lineup the next two days.

PITTSBURGH — One day after saying Adrian Gonzalez would not start the final game of the Dodgers’ four-game series against the Pirates, Dave Roberts decided to tack on another day off for his first baseman.

Scott Van Slyke gets the start at first today, batting eighth against right-hander Chad Kuhl, who is making his major league debut for the Pirates.

Here’s what Roberts said on the topic of Gonzalez today:

Gonzalez’s next start figures to be Tuesday in Milwaukee. Right-hander Chase Anderson is scheduled to start that game for the Brewers.
