Clayton Kershaw begins throwing program, but no timetable for return given.

Clayton Kershaw played catch today for the first time since he was placed on the disabled list June 27. He threw lightly from flat ground with pitcher Brett Anderson, who is also on the disabled list, with team trainers watching.

The Dodgers hope Kershaw recovers from his mild disc herniation as soon as possible, but manager Dave Roberts wasn’t ready to put a timetable on the staff ace Wednesday.

Kershaw leads the major leagues with a 1.79 ERA, 16.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 0.73 WHIP. Despite not pitching since June 26, he still ranks second in baseball in innings pitched.

Here’s more from colleague Joey Kaufman.
