A few minutes after he entered the game as a defensive replacement, Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig was removed from Thursday’s game against the Washington Nationals with an apparent lower body injury.
Update (12:17 p.m.): The Dodgers announced that Puig left the game with tightness in his right hamstring.
In his only plate appearance against the Nationals, Puig hit a sharp ground ball to third baseman Anthony Rendon. Puig was thrown out, briefly hopped on his left leg after running through first base, then immediately exited down the tunnel leading to the visitors’ clubhouse.
Scott Van Slyke took over in right field in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Dodgers pitcher Scott Kazmir nearly left Tuesday’s game with cramping in one his legs, but was able to stay in. Puig has already missed time this season with a left hamstring injury. The nature of this injury is unknown.
The Dodgers have lost more man-games due to injury than any MLB team and have 11 players on the disabled list at the moment.
