Yasiel Puig will return to the Dodgers’ lineup tomorrow, Dave Roberts says.

Yasiel Puig is at Dodger Stadium today, which might be the big headline depending on how many trade rumors you believe. Puig is not, however, in the Dodgers’ starting lineup. He’ll be on the bench for a sixth straight game because of a strained right hamstring.

Puig pinch hit Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks and flied out in his only plate appearance. He finished the game by playing two innings in right field. It was the first day Puig had been cleared to play the field since his injury, Roberts said.

With a right-handed pitcher (Braden Shipley) starting for the Diamondbacks today, left-handed hitting right fielder Andrew Toles will make his fifth start in the Dodgers’ last six games. But Roberts said that Puig isn’t being held out because of the righty-righty matchup.

“He still isn’t 100 percent,” Roberts said. “The player wants to be out there. They all do. It’s my job to do what’s in his best interests and in the best interests of the ball club.”

The Diamondbacks are starting left-hander Patrick Corbin on Sunday, and Roberts believes that Puig will be ready to rejoin the starting lineup by then:

Roberts also thinks Puig will be ready to play a full nine innings tomorrow.

“I’m hoping,” he said. “I don’t plan just to play seven.”
