Clayton Kershaw plays catch, Rich Hill throws bullpen.

Clayton Kershaw played catch at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. It’s at least the third straight day Kershaw has played catch, each time showing no effects of the back injury that landed him on the 60-day disabled list.

“Yesterday he said he feels good,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “I think Clayton’s always going to be the aggressor. The training staff is mindful of him wanting to get back sooner than later. We expect him back sometime during September.”

Kershaw will stay behind in Los Angeles while the Dodgers embark on a road trip to Philadelphia and Cincinnati this week. The left-hander is not expected to throw off a mound during that time. Roberts said that’s at least least seven days away from happening.

Left-hander Rich Hill, meanwhile, was scheduled to throw a rehab game tomorrow for Triple-A Oklahoma City. But he threw a bullpen session under the watchful eye of Roberts, pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and head athletic trainer Neil Rampe on Sunday. Hill is on the DL with a blister on his left middle finger.

The Dodgers had been targeting Hill to return Friday in Cincinnati. That’s still possible, though when, where and if his minor-league rehab will take place could change.
