CHICAGO — Utility player Kiké Hernández and pitcher Alex Wood were added to the Dodgers’ roster for the National League Championship Series on Saturday. They replace infielder Charlie Culberson and utility player Austin Barnes, and give the Dodgers 12 pitchers and 13 position players for the best-of-seven series.

Hernandez, 25, batted .190 with a .283 on-base percentage in 109 games this season. He saw time at six different positions in the field. A right-handed hitter, Hernandez saw his most frequent action against left-handed pitchers. The Chicago Cubs’ Game 1 starter is left-hander Jon Lester, and Hernandez hit one of his seven home runs this season against Lester on June 1. He’s 3 for 12 in his career against Lester; only Madison Bumgarner and Robbie Ray — both left-handers — have faced Hernandez more.

Wood, a 25-year-old left-hander, made four relief appearances for the Dodgers after returning from the disabled list with an elbow injury in September. He didn’t allow a run in those four games, striking out four batters in four innings.

Barnes struck out in his only at-bat of the NLDS; he also appeared as a pinch runner. Culberson went 0 for 7 with two strikeouts.
