« Tomorrow's notebook today | Main | Grady holds a meeting; Hendrickson back to bullpen »

I just flew in from St. Lous, and boy, are my arms tired

The rest of me is pretty shot, too. But, stalwart that I am, here I am at Dodger Stadium, ready to cover tonight's game. I don't envy the boys tonight. They are in a position where they absolutely, positively have to win, and they are facing Roy Oswalt. No news so far, but the club is expected to release one of its Triple-A catchers today, either Ben Davis or Ken Huckaby, to make room on the Vegas roster for newcomer Chad Moeller. It's a stunningly gorgeous day out here, without much in the way of smog, so at least the Dodgers have that going for them. Other than that, it's looking bleak.

Comments

TJ, I have to disagree with your comment in today's paper regarding there being no alternatives to Hendrickson: James McDonald is close to ML ready. Colletti even mentioned in a web chat that we might see him before the end of the year.

Wasn't D.J. Houlton the top starter on the Vegas squad when they brought him up the first time this season?

His relief results being what they were isn't all that relative. They have absolutely nothing to lose by starting him in place of Hendrickson. He's a starting pitcher, and there's never been a better time to see what he's learned in the last couple years.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but Mark Hendrickson makes Brett Tomko look like the second coming of Cy Young.

Hey Tony,

While you're sitting up there admiring the purple mountains majesty of a view, you oughta read my column today. I lay it on pretty thick, but it's out of love, you know. Real live love.
