Correction: Grady is RESIGNING, not being fired
I tried to post this a second ago, but it didn't go up for some reason, so here we go again. Grady is not being fired, and he is expected to participate in the 4 p.m. conference call to announce that he is RESIGNING after two seasons, not being fired. Not sure of his reasons, but hopefully he will shed some light on them. I'll update when I have more.

Even though I agree that Grady Little wasn't the right answer for manager, I can't believe that ownership/management/whomever hasn't learned to be more tactful over the last few years. Geez, if you're going to dump him, DUMP HIM, before you go offering his job to someone else. Tacky tacky tacky. At least Grady has the class to get out on his own, although I would guess he'll sacrifice a bunch of buy-out salary by doing so.

any word on when the other joke Ned Collettii will "Resign"
this was handled horribly by Ned and McCourt. Today proved that the Dodgers have the worst owner and GM in baseball. Grady wasn't a good fit but its obvious this is a PR move. Ahhh yes we are officially the Dodgers.

Tony,
This is a quote from Ken Gurnick's article on the Dodger website:
"Although there are indications the Dodgers want Torre, under Major League guidelines the club is mandated to conduct a search that includes interviews with minority candidates."

Does this mean that, whether or not they've actually made up their minds on the identity of the next manager, the Dodgers will actually be soliciting interviews for the vacant manager position?
And is it conceivable that it could ultimately be someone other than Torre?

Hey, ex-Yankee skippers are a minority within baseball... at the moment, only one of them exists!

Brooklyn, my guess is they will appeal to the commish to wave the requirement on the basis that they have three asst. GMs, one of whom is black, another of whom is both Asian and female, and they also have two special assistants who are black. And if they are sure they want Torre, and it appears they are, why would the commish want them to waste anybody's time interviewing for a position they know they aren't going to get?
Oh, and scareduck is wrong. I just checked baseball-reference.com, and it appears Ralph Houk is still alive
