Dodgers waste no time replacing Marty Greenspun

This would seem to suggest Marty's departure wasn't entirely voluntary, given that his replacement -- a guy named Dennis Mannion, who is coming from outside the organization -- was announced at 9:53 this morning, less than 48 hours after Marty ``resigned'' as the Dodgers' chief operating officer. Mannion has served as senior VP for business ventures for the Baltimore Ravens for the past eight years and also worked for Denver-based Ascent Sports and as a marketing executive for the Philadelphia Phillies. Still waiting for that stability Frank McCourt keeps talking about.

You and some of your colleagues have been writing some great articles the last couple of week and your spot on reporting with this Torre thing was great. I'm making the Daily News my online paper from now on instead of the Times...plus you guys don't have Bill Plaschke.

Paul Oberjuerge's article last week on Torre and the Dodgers tradition was very very good.

What do you think the odds the Dodgers sign Hiroki Kuroda? I'd kind of like the Dodgers to go after some Japanese players this offseason. Kuroda intrigued me last year when he thought about coming over here. I think he could be one of the best if not the best free agent pitchers out there this off season considering how weak the pool is.
