A whole lot of you + a little bit of me = one incredible blog

By all indications, this blog was a pretty big hit with you, the readers, last year. My editors always told me not to be discouraged by the fact that it wasn't receiving that many posted comments, because the real proof was in the pudding of the number of hits it was getting, which was good. But this year, you guys have taken this thing to a whole new level. And while number of hits has (I have been told) doubled over last spring, the thing I am most excited about is the number of comments that are being posted. That Pierre thread the other day got 24 responses THAT DAY, which if I remember correctly is an all-time high for this blog. The other thing I find really encouraging is that a lot of these posts are receiving comments within minutes of me them posting them. Anyway, my point is, you guys and your comments are what are making this blog great. I try to respond to your comments when I can, but it's much more interesting when you guys talk among yourselves and argue among yourselves. I'll throw my thoughts out there, with a little hard news thrown in when there IS hard news, but your responses are what matter most -- even when Paully Pocket is calling me a ``tool.'' And I got a HUGE kick out of the fact that someone is now posting under the name ``seriously tony.''

Keep posting. Post early. Post often. And thank you.

Tony, this blog is great, keep up the good work! A topic i'd like to throw out there today is Torre throwing Kemp in the 8 hole? Besides the fact that it looks like the dodgers best LF (Eithier) & best 3b (LaRoche) are going to begin the season on the bench, how on Earth can Joe justify batting Kemp 8th where he will never see a pitch to hit?? I know its only the first week of games and Joe maybe be just tinkering but batting Kemp in the 8 hole is asinine. Factor all 3 of these decisions in and I am already starting to get a little discouraged!

Tony, you've descended. Nothing here is good. The pageviews are just because you have a press pass, not because of anything you come up with yourself. 24 comments is 1/20th the amount that would be on a good blog of a person without a press pass. All your ideas lately seem intentionally controversial and borderline offensive. It would seem you are blatantly hoping to drive up traffic by writing outrageous things. Did you have lunch with Plaschke & Simers or something?

Love the blog, Tony. Your ideas on what makes a good left fielder? Well, not so much. But still, great coverage. You're always ahead of the rest. Just stick to the news and stay away from the lineup card!

Keep doing what you do, Tony.

Your blog posting voice is like a coworker that likes to talk sports and passes along rumors he heard followed by a bit of analysis. It's brief, non-flowery language...it's a unique voice from your columns and from any other dodgers blog.

Find a way to get a shot of Jeff Kent and yourself holding a donut together. That would work way better than that mugshot you've got going.

You're doing the lords work as far as I'm concerned. Anyone that gives me constantly updated Dodgers news is alright by me. Some of your opinions are completely outlandish but then again so are some of mine. I thought Beta was the way to go in lieu of VHS......

Tony - we appreciate your inside knowledge to be sure. Most of us will never agree with you on Pierre, but I'll be checking here every day for the latest.

While I admit to being a blog lurker, (and posting goes against everything I stand for :) ) I just wanted to drop a quick note and say thanks for the blog and for feeding my daily Dodgers-news addiction.

Thanks, Tony.

I'll make my maiden voyage into this new blog of yours with two comments... First, it's considerably less annoying to load this page than the pop up-laden other ones of the News. And two, how long before Kent gets hurt? Oh, wait....

Great Blog Tony!! (Can you slap Scott Wolf around and teach him something about reporting?)
