Abreu gets a good report
Dr. William Meyers told Dodgers medical officials that Tony Abreu was fine and cleared him to resume his baseball activity without restriction, which he did by taking batting practice and some ground balls. His running has improved, but there is still no timetable for his return to Grapefruit League play. Frankly, it's looking more and more like Ned is going to have to go get a 3B from somewhere else. My money's on Joe Crede, who would presumably become the primary guy with Nomar then becoming a super sub who could play all over the infield and thus could count on a reasonable number of starts.

Tony Jackson has covered the Dodgers for the Daily News since 2004 and has covered Major League Baseball on a regular basis since 1995. He previously covered the Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds. He is a native of Springdale, Ark., and a graduate of the University of Arkansas.

Crede is having an awful spring and has a bad back. No thanks.

Crede is batting .080 (2-for-25) in case anyone cares.

You're right, Tony. We need more bad players and more logjams on this team. I can't wait.

I'd love to take your money on whether or not the dodgers get Crede.

Yuck.

Joe Crede? First Juan Pierre, and then Joe Crede? Heck, why don't we just cut Matt Kemp and keep Nook Logan? Stick Billingsley in the pen and put Park *and* Jason Johnson in the rotation alongside Loaiza? Let Delwyn go so we can keep the "versatile" Ramon Martinez?
I know you post this nonsense just to annoy people, Tony, but Joe Crede's a terrible idea. I'd rather have LaRoche with an amputated hand than the likes of Joe Crede. Thank God none of these decisions are actually yours to make.

Can I ask why you would put your money on Crede? Or are you just purely speculating? In my opinion Crede doesn't make any sense whatsoever for a number of reasons. Same goes for Brandon Inge.

If i just would've signed Beltre back in 2004 after his monster year, we wouldn't be having this discussion in the 1st place. (still bitter)

Inge is a horrible idea, Crede is a bad idea. I'd rather try and showcase a rookie at 3rd and end up trading him, like we did guzman. How about Nomar, Laroche, Hu is enough to cover us at 3rd, until we have a shot at a real 3rd basemen.
Could we maybe get some relief pitching...

Trades are exciting! Tony's begging for a trade because that's more interesting to write about than having Hu hold the job for a week while Nomaaaah/Abreu get healthy (if they aren't already by OD).
It seems like Hu starting for a few games during opening week is met with more resistance than it would be in a random week in June. Do games count for more in April or something?

If Crede had some incredibly small salary, AND could be had for a 31 year old single A guy, I could see taking a flyer on the guy, but there's just no way. No way. No way.

Nomar, Blake, and LaRoche are good enough for me. Crede is stinking up springtime, and Inge is no improvement either. If they want to "stay the course" now they show us they mean it.

OK, OK, forget that I brought it up. By the way, I was just told that DeWitt isn't ready for prime time, which isn't surprising given that he has limited experience at Double-A and NO experience at Triple-A. But he did have another big game today.

The Giants are interested in both Crede and Inge. Isn't it possible (though admittedly not likely) that Ned is driving up the price of either of those players by feigning interest?
Yeah, probably not.

Ethier for Joe Crede. In fact Ethier for - a song.
