Abreu to play four innings, Nomar to head to AZ early
Tony Abreu will play 2B, and is expected to see some 3B action in the next few days. Nomar is leaving either tonight or tomorrow, and says he is shooting for the first Cactus League game on Thursday against the White Sox as his return date. Jeff Kent is taking the day off at the request of Stan Conte, but he has NOT had a setback. He took a lot of swings yesterday, both in the cage and in a minor-league game, so he'll rest today.

Tony Jackson has covered the Dodgers for the Daily News since 2004 and has covered Major League Baseball on a regular basis since 1995. He previously covered the Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds. He is a native of Springdale, Ark., and a graduate of the University of Arkansas.

Tony-thanks for the article on Ethier and Kemp today. I hope Dodgers management is opening their eyes to the possibility of Ethier starting in LF and Kemp in RF. It would result in a more potent offense, and a much better defensive outfield.
I wonder if Pierre asks for a trade if this becomes a reality. Then again, maybe Ned is already working on one.

Maybe Ned can trade Pierre for Danny Baez?

Pierre for Danny Baez? Hasn't that experiment already failed? You're on the right track, however. Pierre should be traded for a reliever and a prospect. He's probably at this trade peak anyway. The Ethier/Pierre debate should not even be open for discussion. The ability to get on base consistently and drive the ball beats Pierre's offensive ineptitude everyday.

How about Pierre to the Mets? With Alou out for an extended period due to hernia surgery, maybe the Mets would entertain a deal for Juan. Having the speed of Reyes and Pierre at the top of their lineup might be intriguing to them. And they are one of the few teams who could afford to absorb Pierre's contract.
Maybe the Dodgers could even get something in return (Pelfrey?????). Whatever, it's just a thought, and not likely to happen.
What I don't want is to see Ethier traded, unless it's for something REALLLLLLLLLLLY good.

Maybe Ned can trade Ethier for a bag of peanuts?

Then Ned can turn those peanuts around (packaged with Pierre) for Gustavo Chacin.

I guess I'm gonna have to put my pink dress back on to get myself noticed by Dodger management.
