The Dodgers made their second round of roster cuts after a 5-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. Top pitching prospects Julio Urias and Jose De Leon were the top names sent out; both were re-assigned to the Dodgers’ minor league camp. So was catcher Jack Murphy.

Infielder Micah Johnson and pitchers Ian Thomas, Ross Stripling and Yaisel Sierra were all re-assigned to the Dodgers’ minor league camp.

Scott Kazmir finds his rhythm in ‘B game’ against Chicago White Sox.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The results, as told by a radar gun and his line score, were not kind to Dodgers pitcher Scott Kazmir on Monday.

That’s part of the reason why Kazmir chose not to pitch in a Cactus League game, where innings get long and fans groan and unflattering radar-gun readings tend to light up Twitter. Instead, the 32-year-old left-hander threw to Yasmani Grandal in a “B game” on the back fields at Camelback Ranch against the Chicago White Sox.

The game was limited to five innings. Each half-inning was limited to four hitters maximum. There were umpires on the field and coaches, executives and minor-league teammates watching from outside the park. There was also no cost of admission, making the mini-matchup between Kazmir and Chris Sale an unqualified bargain. Kazmir faced mostly minor-league hitters, so the results-may-not-be-not-typical disclaimer applies here.

Now, about those results.

Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu takes it easy in return to mound.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu threw 20 fastballs off a mound today, a small but noteworthy step forward in his shoulder rehab program.

“It was very good,” Ryu said through an interpreter. “It wasn’t all about the speed. It was more about location and how I felt.”

Ryu, who missed all of last season because of shoulder labrum surgery, had been limited to throwing from flat ground the last couple weeks. The left-hander still believes he can return to game action by May.

Why only fastballs Monday? Ryu said that his changeup and curveball don’t cause him any shoulder pain, but the 20-fastball session was simply the next step in his progression. His next date off a mound is to be determined.

Today’s lineups, and Hyun-Jin Ryu returns to the mound.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Dodgers are playing two games today. One is a regularly-scheduled Cactus League game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Camelback Ranch (lineup on the left). The other is a “B” game against the Chicago White Sox (lineup on the right). You might have heard of Chicago’s starting pitcher, a left-hander named Chris Sale:

You have just as good a chance of catching the “B” game on TV as the “A” game.
