Did Mike Fiers’ glove have pine tar? Dodgers don’t want to sound like they’re whining, but…

HOUSTON — The above image of Mike Fiers‘ glove, shown on TV during his no-hitter Friday, had people buzzing Saturday. The buzz was coming more from fans than the players who took part in the Dodgers’ 3-0 loss.

“I had no idea during the game,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. “Nobody said anything to us during the game.”

Game 121: Dodgers hitters meet their fiery end in Houston.

HOUSTON — The Dodgers could not collect a single hit off Houston Astros pitcher Mike Fiers on Friday. It was the first time the Dodgers have been no-hit in three years. The box score is here.

Chase Utley began his Dodgers career with little fanfare. Vin Scully was posterized.

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) expected to play in Dodgers’ series against Houston Astros.

HOUSTON — Three days after he strained his right hamstring running out a ground ball, Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig ran “hard” at Minute Maid Park prior to tonight’s game against the Houston Astros.

“I think (medical director Stan Conte) wanted to be a little cautious for another day,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. “We’ll just see where he is again but it sounded like it went good today. He might be available in some capacity tonight.”

If Puig doesn’t appear in tonight’s game, he’ll at least be able to serve as the Dodgers’ designated hitter Saturday and/or Sunday in the American League ballpark. In theory, that might take some stress off his legs.

“I expect him to definitely be able to play in the series,” Mattingly said of Puig. “Just from Stan’s tone. He came out and ran hard. It sounds like it went pretty well.”

Chase Utley will bat second, serve as designated hitter in his Dodgers debut.

HOUSTON — Chase Utley is in uniform (wearing number 26) at Minute Maid Park and will bat second in his first game as a Dodger.

Utley, 36, is serving as the Dodgers’ designated hitter, delaying by at least a day his reunion up the middle with Jimmy Rollins at shortstop. The two played 12 years together in Philadelphia (2003-14).

The Phillies batted Utley second five times this season, most recently June 20. This will be his sixth career game as a designated hitter. Utley is 4 for 17 (.235) with a home run as a DH in the past.

Here is the Dodgers’ full lineup for the 5 p.m. (PT) game:
