SAN DIEGO — Projecting the Dodgers’ 25-man National League Division Series roster is fun but premature. The Dodgers have a 99 percent chance of making the playoffs, but one month offers enough time for injuries to throw a monkey wrench into the whole thought exercise.

For 21-year-old infielder Corey Seager, it might take an injury for him to make the postseason roster. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly wouldn’t even concede that point Sunday.

“I don’t have any doubts in his ability or some of the things he can do,” Mattingly said. “The postseason roster at this point, it’s a little far out there.”

Dodgers place Kiké Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list, recall Austin Barnes from Triple-A.

Kiké Hernandez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday and will miss at least that time with a strained left hamstring. Austin Barnes, who was already in the ballpark in advance of a Tuesday call-up, joins the active roster for tonight’s game against the San Francisco Giants.

Dodgers activate A.J. Ellis, option Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

PHILADELPHIA — The Dodgers activated A.J. Ellis from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Ellis hasn’t played since July 19 because of pain in his right knee. Austin Barnes, roundly hugged in the Dodgers’ clubhouse after Sunday’s win over the Angels, was predictably optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Barnes appeared in four games in his latest major league stint. He had three hits in 12 plate appearances.

Yasmani Grandal, not Ellis, will catch Alex Wood‘s Dodgers debut today against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Surprise: A.J. Ellis, not Yasmani Grandal, is the Dodgers’ catcher on the disabled list.

A.J. EllisATLANTA — One day after A.J. Ellis stepped in behind the plate for Yasmani Grandal, who took a foul tip off his mask and briefly couldn’t open his mouth, the Dodgers placed one of their catchers on the 15-day disabled list: Ellis.
