Dodgers acquire two minor leaguers from Cleveland Indians for cash.

SAN FRANCISCO >> The Dodgers bolstered their minor league depth Sunday by acquiring outfielder James Ramsey and infielder/outfielder Zach Walters from the Cleveland Indians for cash.

Ramsey and Walters have been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Neither player was in the lineup for the Dodgers’ noon game in Nashville.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers moved pitcher Josh Ravin and outfielder Andre Ethier to the 60-day disabled list.

Howie Kendrick (groin) scratched from Dodgers’ 8-5 loss to Cleveland Indians.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Howie Kendrick was slated to play third base for the first time today against the Cleveland Indians but was a late scratch due to a groin injury.

Non-roster invitee Rob Segedin played third base instead. The Dodgers (3-1-1) lost 8-5, ruining their chance at an undefeated Cactus League season. The box score is here.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts talked about Kendrick’s injury after the game:

Dodgers spring training 2015: Yasmani Grandal, Mike Bolsinger postgame quotes.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — I’m not sure what the narrative is here.

I have that thought a lot during spring training. Sometimes there isn’t a narrative yet, and that’s OK. It’s March 7.

Here we have Mike Bolsinger and Yasmani Grandal. Bolsinger had a 1-2-3 first inning against the Cleveland Indians in his Dodgers debut on Saturday. He coughed up a single, a wild pitch and an RBI single in the second inning. Then his day was over; he didn’t throw any more pitches in the bullpen.

Grandal came out to talk to Bolsinger at one point in the second inning. The catcher then did something Matt Kemp did a lot: He hit an opposite-field home run off a right-handed pitcher. It isn’t Grandal’s job to make Dodger fans forget about Kemp, necessarily, even though they were traded for each other. It is his job to make fans forget that he blew his knee out in 2013 and didn’t really recover until late in 2014 — perhaps not until he started playing Winter ball.

It’s also his job to instill confidence in the Dodgers’ pitching staff, and Grandal seemed to do that Saturday. Here’s what they had to say after the game (the box score is here):

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Right-hander Zach Lee will make his Cactus League debut against the Milwaukee Brewers in Maryvale, while left-hander David Huff will start the Dodgers’ other split-squad game at home against the Seattle Mariners, manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday.

Both games begin at noon Pacific Time.

Uber-prospect Julio Urias is scheduled to pitch in relief of Huff at Camelback Ranch, though Mattingly said Wednesday “that could be changed.” Mattingly will manage the game at Camelback Ranch.

Mattingly said tentatively that Brandon McCarthy will start Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Indians in Goodyear.

For now, the Dodgers starters will get only “four innings, a couple at-bats.” So if you’re coming to any of these games and want to watch someone whose name you’ll recognize, arrive early.
