The Dodgers are expected to announce their full coaching staff sometime Thursday or Friday. The team hasn’t announced anything yet because one position still isn’t finalized — but which one?

Good question. Here’s the latest on the expected 2016 coaches, titles and reliability of information:

Bench: Bob Geren (believed done, confirmed)
1B: Gabe Kapler (believed done, unconfirmed)
3B: Chris Woodward (reported, unconfirmed)
Bullpen: Josh Bard (only name I’ve heard so far, unconfirmed)
Hitting: Turner Ward (reported, unconfirmed)
Assistant hitting: Tim Hyers (reported, unconfirmed)
Pitching: Rick Honeycutt (done, unconfirmed)

The Dodgers haven’t announced any of their major- or minor-league coaches, but here are a few recent reports indicating what might lie in store:

Gabe Kapler will reportedly be the first-base coach.

Paco Figueroa will reportedly be the minor league hitting coordinator.

Ryan Garko will reportedly be the manager at Double-A Tulsa.

The club is expected to announce its major league staff this week. Kapler is the director of player development, so it’s not clear who is overseeing the hiring process of the minor league coaches and managers.

New York Mets bench coach Bob Geren told ESPN.com that he’ll take the same job in Los Angeles, confirming multiple reports over the past few days.

“It was a very tough decision, but I am headed to L.A.,” Geren told Adam Rubin. “Both my wife and I have aging parents and extended family in Southern California. It’s not often you get a chance in baseball to work that close to home and to your family. I’m going to miss everything about New York and the Mets. It was a wonderful four years.”

Geren, 54, interviewed for the manager’s job that ultimately went to Dave Roberts.

Reports: Dodgers to name Dave Roberts manager.

Dave Roberts will be the Dodgers’ next manager, according to multiple reports Sunday night.

Roberts was the San Diego Padres’ first base coach from 2011-13 and their bench coach the last two seasons. He has never managed at any level.

As an outfielder, Roberts starred at UCLA before playing 10 major league seasons for five different teams from 1999-2008. He broke through as an everyday player after being traded to the Dodgers prior to the 2002 season, then was traded to the Boston Red Sox in July 2004. His stolen base in Game 4 of that year’s American League Championship Series lifted the Red Sox to victory and keyed their comeback in the series.

Roberts, whose father is African-American and mother is Japanese, would become the first minority manager in Dodgers history. The team has yet to make an official announcement, and Roberts isn’t expected to be introduced Monday. According to several reports Sunday, his contract has yet to be finalized.

Managing expectations, Day 29: ‘No decision’ made as rumors swirl around Gabe Kapler.

“No decision.”

A two-word text message was all it took Thursday for a high-ranking Dodgers official to shoot down rumors that Gabe Kapler has been offered the manager’s job.

If Kapler does get the job, it will come as little surprise. The first-year director of player development been viewed for some time now as the top internal candidate to replace Don Mattingly, even before Mattingly and the Dodgers agreed to part ways last month. Kapler did not respond to a text message seeking comment.

Amid reports that Bud Black is joining the Angels’ front office, Kapler and Dave Roberts are the two remaining managerial candidates. Roberts reportedly interviewed well — so well that he got a second interview this week. The Padres’ bench coach last season, Roberts has never managed at the major-league level. Neither has Kapler.

Barring a late surprise, one of the two men will be introduced before the Winter Meetings, which begin Dec. 6. It’s believed that won’t happen until Monday at the earliest.
