Some roster moves, one still to come

The Dodgers have called up catcher A.J. Ellis from Triple-A while sending down infielder Blake DeWitt and outfielder Jamie Hoffmann, reasoning that DeWitt and Hoffmann needed more time to play and develop that they weren’t getting with the big club.

That leaves an empty spot on the 25-man which will be filled by the start of tonight’s game against the Athletics. It almost certainly will be an outfielder because the demotion of Hoffmann leaves the Dodgers with only their starting outfielders. Ken Gurnick speculates it will be 31-year-old Mitch Jones, who is absolutely murdering the ball in Albuquerque to the tune of a 1.044 OPS.
