Nine Dodgers players become free agents, including Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner.

Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner are free agents as of today, along with seven other Dodgers whose contracts expired the day after the World Series: Rich Hill, Joe Blanton, Chase Utley, Josh Reddick, J.P. Howell, Brett Anderson and Jesse Chavez.

A total of 139 players became free agents around MLB. That does not include Dodgers catcher Carlos Ruiz; the club has until Monday to exercise his 2017 contract option.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is one of three finalists for a National League Gold Glove Award at his position. Anthony Rendon of the Washington Nationals and Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies are the others.

Arenado has won the award the last three years.

In his first year playing third base exclusively (the former utilityman logged one inning at first base), Turner compiled a .972 fielding percentage (nine errors in 144 games). Arenado (20), Rendon (8) and Turner (7) were the top three NL third basemen in defensive runs saved. Turner led the field in Ultimate Zone Rating, another advanced metric.

The Gold Glove Awards are voted on by managers and coaches in both leagues. Their selections account for approximately three-quarters of the vote. A statistical component, called the SDI (SABR Defensive Index), accounts for about one-quarter of the rankings. Arenado (8.8) was slightly ahead of Turner (8.4) in the most recent SDI rankings among National League third basemen.

The winners will be announced Nov. 8 on ESPN.
