Pitcher Mat Latos, who was released by the Dodgers on Friday, has signed with the Angels. He will not be eligible to play in the postseason.

DENVER — The Dodgers released Mat Latos today, officially ending his brief tenure with the team. Latos had been designated for assignment Sept. 17.
Acquired to boost the Dodgers’ injury-depleted starting rotation at the trade deadline, Latos was 0-3 with a 6.66 earned-run average in six games. He was demoted to the bullpen twice during his six weeks with the club. A free agent at the end of the season, the Dodgers were already on the hook for about one-third of Latos’ 2015 salary of $9.4 million.
Right-hander Mike Bolsinger, who is starting today’s game against the Colorado Rockies, essentially took Latos’ place in the Dodgers’ starting rotation. Bolsinger is 6-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 19 starts this season.
The Colorado Rockies beat the Dodgers on Nolan Arenado‘s home run off Mat Latos in the 16th inning. The game lasted 5 hours and 23 minutes and set a record for the most players used by two teams in a single game (58). The Dodgers used 28 players.

Hamstring injuries are nothing new, but this year they arrived in a bunch.
In addition to the single-game record for most players used by two teams, the teams used a record 24 pitchers (previous: 21, Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore 9/30/2006, an 18-inning game). The Dodgers’ 11 pitchers and 28 players, and the Rockies’ 13 pitchers and 30 players, are all new franchise records.
