Matt Holliday has become the St. Louis Cardinals’ player to watch.

If you remember the Dodgers’ three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2009 National League Division Series, this might be the first thing you think of when you see the name “Matt Holliday“:

That fateful, painful drop allowed the Dodgers to come back from a 2-1 deficit in the ninth inning of Game 2.

These days, Holliday has his swagger back. He set a National League record on Wednesday by reaching base in 43 consecutive games to begin the season. Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire sized up Holliday, comparing him to two of the best hitters he’s ever coached.
