Source: Dodgers returning Julio Urias to Triple-A.

NEW YORK — Julio Urias‘ first major league call-up was a brief one.

The Dodgers will send the 19-year-old phenom back to Triple-A as early as today, a source confirmed. The news was originally reported by Fanatics Network on Twitter.

Urias lasted only 2 ⅔ innings against the New York Mets in a spot start Friday. He was spared the loss when the Dodgers staged a four-run rally to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning, only to lose on Curtis Granderson‘s solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Urias called it the best day of his life; you can relive it all here.

No word yet on who the Dodgers recall to take Urias’ spot on the 25-man roster. They need relief pitchers badly after using five of their seven last night. Workhorse Clayton Kershaw is only scheduled to start once on their 7-game road trip, so the need figures to persist beyond today.

NEW YORK — The best day of Julio Urias‘ life had a familiar ending to Dodgers fans: a walk-off solo home run by Curtis Granderson off Pedro Baez. The Mets won 6-5.

Alex Wood, who was scratched from Friday’s game with a sore right triceps muscle, is confident he can make his next start Monday in Chicago.

Alex Wood might be limited to bunting when he starts Monday.

NEW YORK — Alex Wood was in a joking mood Friday about his left triceps injury. He said he sustained the injury on a swing last weekend in San Diego, a game in which he finished 0 for 2, ending a modest four-game hitting streak.

“That’s why it ended,” Wood said of the streak. “It happened in my first AB.”

Game 35: Clayton Kershaw makes it look easy.

Clayton Kershaw threw his second shutout in his last three starts, and also set a team record by striking out at least 10 batters for the fifth straight game (he finished with 13), in the Dodgers’ 5-0 win over the New York Mets. The box score is here.
