The Dodgers have recalled Mike Bolsinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and the pitcher will reportedly start Wednesday’s game in Anaheim.

Update (4:40 p.m.): Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Bolsinger starts tomorrow.

“We’re optimistic he’ll get us for sure through five” innings, Roberts said. “Every starter will get an extra day.”

The Dodgers are in the midst of 20 straight games without a day off. The Dodgers’ pitching staff was further taxed when Kenta Maeda threw a season-low four innings in a 7-6 loss to the Angels on Monday night. Roberts said that Bolsinger could possible remain in a bullpen role.

Roberts added that Bolsinger will be on an 80-pitch limit. The right-hander will throw a light bullpen session today.

Mike Bolsinger outduels Yu Darvish at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Mike Bolsinger and Yu Darvish are both rehabbing injuries, Bolsinger an oblique/abdominal strain and Darvish the dreaded Tommy John surgery. Their paths converged Thursday night in Texas, when the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers played the Round Rock Express. Bolsinger got the better of Darvish in a matchup no one will remember, probably.

Bolsinger didn’t allow a run in four innings while throwing 63 pitches — up from the 47 pitches he threw in his first rehab start five days ago. He allowed two singles, a double and walked three batters.

Darvish allowed two runs (one earned) and took the loss in a 5-4 Dodgers win.

Bolsinger’s next start figures to come next Tuesday and take him into the 60-70 pitch range.

Mike Bolsinger will make his first minor league rehab start for Oklahoma City today. The Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate is playing a night game at Colorado Springs.

Bolsinger was the front-runner to be the Dodgers’ fifth starter when he suffered an injury to his abdominal/oblique area late in spring training. He had been rehabbing the injury at the Dodgers’ extended spring training facility in Glendale, Ariz.

In 21 starts for the Dodgers last year, Bolsinger went 6-6 with a 3.62 earned-run average.

Pitcher Mike Bolsinger is throwing off a mound again.

DENVER — Mike Bolsinger has resumed throwing off a mound in his rehab from a strained left abdominal/oblique muscle.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Bolsinger touched up to 88 mph on the radar gun in his most recent mound session earlier this week in Arizona.

“It was small — 20-30-40 pitches over two innings,” Roberts said.

Bolsinger will throw again off a mound in the coming days.
