Yasiel Puig’s Triple-A debut reportedly starts late, ends well.

Yasiel Puig went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Sunday. It was his first game at Triple-A ever, and his first game since anywhere since sunday.

When the Dodgers failed to find a trade partner that would take Puig at the Aug. 1 non-waiver deadline, they placed the 25-year-old outfielder on release waivers before sending him to the minor leagues. Puig hadn’t played a game at any level since collecting three hits for the Dodgers last Sunday.

Puig hit a bases-loaded double in his final at-bat in the Dodgers’ loss to the Iowa Cubs. Here’s a video of the hit:

Wearing number 46, Puig reportedly did not arrive at the ballpark until 45 minutes before first pitch.

The Dodgers officially recalled Brock Stewart from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. The right-hander will start tonight’s game in Colorado, the second start of his major league career.

While that move was expected — Stewart was in Denver with the Dodgers on Monday — a couple unexpected faces showed up before today’s game. Left-handed pitcher Julio Urias and right-handed pitcher Josh Fields will be available out of the bullpen tonight. Fields, who was acquired from the Houston Astros before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline, will wear number 46.

Two of the Dodgers’ steadiest relievers this season are going on the 15-day disabled list: Louis Coleman with right shoulder fatigue and Adam Liberatore with left elbow inflammation.

Additionally, outfielder Andrew Toles was optioned to Triple-A along with pitcher Josh Ravin. Ravin hasn’t pitched this season while serving an 80-game performance enhancing drug suspension, which expired today.

Pitcher Clayton Kershaw was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. He isn’t eligible to be activated before August 27. That doesn’t materially affect his timetable for recovery, since Kershaw hasn’t begun a throwing program. Kershaw has a mildly herniated disc in his lower back and hasn’t pitched in a game since June.

Dodgers extend affiliation agreements with three minor league affiliates.

The Dodgers extended their affiliation agreements with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Double-A Tulsa and low Single-A Great Lakes on Wednesday.

Minor league affiliation agreements last two years at a time. Each affiliation agreement was set to expire at the end of this season.

In the case of Triple-A Oklahoma City, the announcement was a formality. The Oklahoma City Dodgers are owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Mandalay Baseball Properties, which was founded by Dodgers co-owner Peter Guber.

Tulsa is in its second season as a Dodgers affiliate, while Great Lakes is in its 10th.

“We’re tremendously excited about extending our Player Development Contracts with Great Lakes, Tulsa and Oklahoma City,” Gabe Kapler, the Dodgers’ director of player development, said in a statement. “We are excited to see our relationship with these great franchises continue to blossom and are especially grateful for the leaders we’ve gotten to work with at each affiliate, as they have been an integral part of our development of the young men in the Dodger organization. We are honored to participate in this process with each partner and know we will continue to see strong returns from these relationships.”

With little ceremony, the Dodgers announced in a press release Tuesday that Yasiel Puig has been “sent to the minors.” Pitcher Josh Fields, who was on the roster of the Houston Astros’ Triple-A affiliate when he was acquired yesterday, and pitcher Ross Stripling have also been sent to the minors. As we reported earlier today, Stripling is expected to join the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City tomorrow.

Julio Urias’ Pacific Coast League scoreless-inning streak ends at 29.

Making his first relief appearance since being demoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Dodgers prospect Julio Urias was tagged for a pair of runs tonight, ending his streak of consecutive scoreless innings at 29.

The Dodgers led 2-0 after Urias threw a scoreless seventh inning against the Memphis Redbirds. The left-hander then allowed four hits and two runs in the eighth inning as the Redbirds tied the game 2-2.

Urias’ streak began April 22 against Memphis. It was interrupted by a pair of major-league stints in which Urias posted a 4.69 earned-run average over nine games.

After his last start for the Dodgers in Washington D.C. on July 21, Urias was sent back to Triple-A to work out of the bullpen and conserve his innings. Tonight marked only his third relief appearance at any level this season.

The PCL record for consecutive scoreless innings is 44, set in 1905 by Bill Tozer of the Los Angeles Angels.
