Hunter Renfroe might be the only person to leave San Diego with home-field advantage after the Padres’ star had another big night in a 6-5 Dodgers loss. The box score is here.

Charlie Culberson‘s home run Sunday linked him with Vin Scully forever, writes columnist Mark Whicker.

Two postscripts:

1. Ross Stripling threw from the stretch with the bases empty today. He said he didn’t warm up out of the windup in the bullpen before coming in. The right-hander gave up two hits in three innings (one was a double that led to the winning run) and said he might just roll with it now that he’s reliving full-time.

2. Josh Reddick famously wore a “don’t bunt” T-shirt recently while visiting with Vin Scully. So why did he bunt in the ninth inning? “They’re giving you a free hit with the shift,” he said. The Padres had abandoned third base with the left-handed hitting Reddick at the plate.

Here’s what else they were saying after the game:

Watch: Vin Scully’s final call at Dodger Stadium is a walk-off home run to clinch division.

These were the memorable words of Vin Scully’s final call in his final game Dodger Stadium:

“Oh-and-one to Charlie, swung on, and a high fly ball to deep left field, the Dodger bench empties. Would you believe a home run? And the Dodgers have clinched the division and will celebrate on schedule. (pause) Leave it to the Dodgers. Charlie Culberson a game winning home run. What a moment to have it. And would you believe: His first home run of the year! So the Dodgers did what they hoped to do. It was a struggle, but they won it on their own merits, 4-3. The last home run that Charlie Culberson hit would be two years ago, in two thousand and fourteen against Cincinnati. So the Dodgers, for the fourth straight year, have won the National League division title in the West, and what a guy to do it: Charlie Culberson, after dramatic triple and a home run by Seager to keep them alive. Now they don’t care about the Padres and the Giants. Care not at all. And boy, did it work out perfectly — the final home game of the regular season.”

Here’s what it looked like in real time:

The Dodgers couldn’t stop scoring in a 14-1 rout of the Colorado Rockies, but a San Francisco Giants win put their National League West clinching party on hold. The box score is here. The photo gallery is here.

Rich Hill was scratched from Sunday’s start as a precautionary measure; Brandon McCarthy will start instead.

Sunday is Vin Scully’s final game behind the microphone at Dodger Stadium. In his final pre-retirement press conference, Scully discussed the time he was asked to run for governor of California.

Scully’s style touched generations of fans, writes Ryan Kartje. Scully was unique in style and substance, writes Mark Whicker.
