GLENDALE, Ariz. — Right-hander Brad Penny is listed as the probable starter for the Chicago White Sox against his former club today (1 p.m., Camelback Ranch). The Dodgers’ lineup has a very Opening Day-ish look to it, with Clayton Kershaw on the mound and a couple interesting twists.
A left-handed swinging Yasmani Grandal bats cleanup after first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. A left-handed swinging Carl Crawford bats sixth. Andre Ethier starts in center field and bats eighth:
Jimmy Rollins SS
Yasiel Puig RF
Adrian Gonzalez 1B
Yasmani Grandal C
Howie Kendrick 2B
Carl Crawford LF
Juan Uribe 3B
Andre Ethier CF
Clayton Kershaw P
Bench: Joc Pederson, Chris Heisey, Scott Van Slyke, Alex Guerrero, Kike Hernandez, Darwin Barney, Justin Turner.
Bullpen: Adam Liberatore, Paco Rodriguez, Joel Peralta, Chris Hatcher, Pedro Baez.
It’s the fifth spring training start for Kershaw, who gets one more turn before Opening Day. Figure he’ll get something in the neighborhood of 95-100 pitches to work with. Could be less if he gets on a roll and Don Mattingly decides his bullpen needs some work.
Update (1 p.m.): The Dodgers have recalled minor-leaguers Buck Britton, Peter Lavin, Ali Solis, Spencer Navin, Jacob Scavuzzo and Nate Samson.
Here is the Chicago White Sox lineup:
Micah Johnson 2B
Alexei Ramirez SS
Jose Abreu 1B
Adam LaRoche DH
Avisail Garcia RF
Conor Gillaspie 3B
Tyler Flowers C
J.B. Shuck LF
Emilio Bonifacio CF
Brad Penny, RHP
