Dodgers pitcher Yimi Garcia was cleared to throw off a mound this week in Arizona.

Garcia is on the 60-day disabled list with soreness in his right biceps. The right-hander hasn’t pitched for the Dodgers in more than two months (April 22 was his last appearance), and he wasn’t able to throw at all for most of that time.

But Garcia made enough progress in June to begin a throwing program, and now he’s throwing off a mound. There is no hard timetable for his return.

TORONTO — Yimi Garcia will not be in Los Angeles when the Dodgers return home to play the New York Mets on Monday.

The pitcher, on the 15-day disabled list with numbness in his right biceps muscle, has transferred his rehab to Arizona.

“He has not picked up a baseball yet,” manager Dave Roberts said.

Garcia hasn’t pitched since April 22, when two of the four batters he faced in Colorado reached base before he was forced to leave the game.

Yimi Garcia still can’t pick up a baseball five days after he was removed from a game with a sore biceps muscle. The right-hander remains on the 15-day disabled list.

“Yimi’s doing just OK,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “He’s not (shown) a whole lot of improvement, which is — he’s disappointed. After not picking up a baseball for three or four days, you’d expect that to kind of subside.”

Roberts said that the numbness in Garcia’s arm is more localized to the biceps area; last Friday his arm was numb all the way down to his wrist.

Garcia hasn’t had an MRI yet, but that would be the next step if he does not demonstrate improvement. In nine appearances across 8 ⅓ innings this season, Garcia had a 2.86 FIP and a 3.24 ERA.
