Congratulations to San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group photographer Eric Reed, who took top honors for his photos in the Doo Dah photo contest!  Here's the list of winners:

Trophies and certificates were awarded to these fine photographers during the Doo Dah Photography & Memorabilia Exhibit at McGinty's Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena on July 17. The event included performances by The Subs, Chico's Bail Bonds, reigning Doo Dah Queen Erica Valentine, Prince Andrew, Count Smokula and yours truly with her swords. There was also a silent auction with all kinds of groovy items, from DIY Doo Dah kits to Esotouric tours and tiki mugs from KingKahunaPoker.com

It's barely a week away! Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate Doo Dah craziness and toast the Light Bringer Project.
 
Professional and amateur photographers have been invited to submit their best photographs of the Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade in a contest. All photographs are going to be exhibited at McGinty's Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena 6 p.m.-midnight July 17, during which trophies will be awarded in a number of categories with the "Spirit of Doo Dah" as top prize.
 
Gallery visitors to the "Doo Dah Parade Photo & Memorabilia" exhibit will enjoy an evening of entertainment and fun. In addition to the photos on display, you can view royal gowns, portraits and more. Chico's Bail Bonds will treat you to blues, while The Subs will keep the beat with a repertoire ranging from folk and rock to R&B and dance. Reigning royalty Queen Erica will serve up some sweet guitar licks, Queen Naughty Mickie will awe you with her sword dance and Queen Skittles will be offering her talents to take your photo with the Doo Dah denizen of your choice. Also, throughout the event, you are invited to bid on a selection of silent auction items.
 
Proceeds from the event and auction benefit the Light Bringer Project, a non-profit organization based in Pasadena. LBP's annual Doo Dah Parade and Pasadena Chalk Festival help support its art and art education programs, including Room 13, Expressing Feelings Through Art and the Ad & Design Academy.
