I watch the Rose Bowl. My mom watches the parade before the Rose Bowl.
It’s been this way for so long now, I sometimes forget there is a parade before the Rose Bowl; I’m sure my mom sometimes forgets there’s a football game.
But I found myself talking to Brad May after practice today for the first time since Dec. 15 that’s how long it’s been since he took a puck off his foot and broke it at the VERY END of practice. During his injury down time, he did a lot of TV work, gave a lot of kids tours through the clubhouse and he was in the Rose Parade, along with the Stanley Cup, on the City of Anaheim’s float. It was the first appearance in the Rose Parade for both Stanley and Brad…
“It was a good experience. It was strange. I didnt know about standing, waving, by myself. The longer the
Rose Parade went on, the more I appreciated what it was. Its an amazing event to
be invited, to be a part of the city of Anaheims floats. I was the only one
with the keeper (of the Stanley Cup). It was hours, it was unbelievable how
long it is.
“I asked the guy I thought it was almost over one of the guys
came around on one of those mopeds. I said, How much longer? He said, Only
about five more miles. Thats when I said, right there, This is big. “

K, mom. You were right.
