Mystery solved!

The Toronto Star tracked down the source of the “new video evidence” that landed Chris Pronger an 8-game suspension Saturday.

In this storypublished Monday, the Star explains the source of the video that wasn’t available until Thursday night, 24 hours after Pronger kicked Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler:

According to Rogers Sportsnet producer Greg Shannon, who did the game for the Canucks in Phoenix Thursday, the crew found itself in the same production truck Fox Anaheim had used Wednesday.
One of the unit’s tape machines contained something interesting.
“In preparing for the Phoenix game, we came across a closer angle of the Pronger incident,” Shannon said in an email. That angle, which proved to be the smoking gun, aired that night on Sportsnet.
The next day, the NHL suspended Pronger.
