What do Scott Niedermayer and I have in common?
We'd both forgotten about this.
Niedermayer had "forgotten about" Daniel Alfredsson's puck-in-the-face because he's one of hockey's true gentlemen. I forgot it because I only watched it on TV and Game 4 of the '07 Stanley Cup finals seems like a long time ago for some reason. The vast majority of the 17,174 (paid) fans at Honda Center didn't forget about it and booed Alfredsson every time he touched the puck during the ducks' 3-1 win on Monday. "It's nice to know they have my back," Niedermayer said after the game.
After one of his best games of the year, Jean-Sebastien Giguere complimented Niedermayer and the other Ducks leaders for helping the Ducks keep their composure when Ottawa didn't on Friday: "We have amazing leaders here," Jiggy said. "When our leaders keep their
composure, everyone else just follows them, and I thought we did a great job
with that."
The Ducks' undisciplined penalties cost them so many games earlier in the season, it was amazing to hear this come out of Randy Carlyle's mouth after the win: "Yeah, we’ve been guilty of
taking some undisciplined penalties, but I can’t remember a game where I’ve
been unhappy with our discipline here in the last 25 or 30 games."
Best quote of the night, though, belongs to Senators GM/coach Bryan Murray, explaining how he got ejected in the third period: "I told them [the refs] it was a bulls--- call. They said, 'say it again and we'll throw you out.' So I said it again."
