Ducks get some extra credit.
The Ducks announced today that the club was recently honored with the statewide Celebrate Literacy Award presented by the California Reading Association (CRA). Selected from 60 nominees throughout California , the Ducks award-winning S.C.O.R.E. program will continue to spread its initiatives by hosting Reading is the GOAL day tomorrow at Walter Knott Elementary School in Buena Park
Reading is the GOAL day at Walter Knott Elementary is themed around promoting literacy and the importance of education. Carter and Pahlsson will appear at a school-wide assembly beginning at 9 a.m. Following the assembly, Ducks staff members will read to first, second, third and fourth grade classes from 10:15 to 11 a.m. During the children's lunch periods, several Ducks staff members will participate in street hockey games on the school playground. In addition, the California Teacher's Association, a chapter of the National Education Association, is supporting Reading is the GOAL Day by providing Barnes and Noble gift cards as prizes for kids who excel in the Reading is the GOAL program.
